Woodbridge Primary School

Woodbridge aspires to be the most caring and encouraging community school

Physical Education

Physical education is an integral part of our school program. Students' knowledge and skills are developed predominantly using a games approach, whereby they can both collaborate and compete with each other, using an extensive range of resources. Students are exposed to myriad activities so they may find a sport that appeals to them.

Woodbridge PS is a Sporting Schools member. We are part of an initiative to help strengthen the connection between schools and sport so that all Australian children can get active and experience the joy of sport. Sporting Schools aim to become Australia’s largest participation program for all children to foster a lifelong interest in sport. Sporting Schools can access funds for sporting activities and also a range of trained community coaches.

Class Program

Year 1 - Year 6 students participate in one session per week with a Physical Education specialist teacher, in addition to class fitness sessions.

Lunch Program

Lunch time faction competitions in a variety of sports are often offered to students from Years 4 - 6. These are co-ordinated by the Physical Education specialist teacher and Year 6 leaders.

Woodbridge Walkers Club

Woodbridge Walkers meet on selected days before school to increase their general fitness through walking. Prizes are awarded to recognise distances travelled.

Members are welcome from the entire Woodbridge community.

Carnivals

Students participate in many carnivals throughout the year, allowing application of skills taught in PE. Some carnivals are participation based and some competitive - both are of equal importance.  These include but are not limited to:
